Salado Engagement Session

I recently had the joy of photographing Mallory and Zane’s engagement session, and it was truly one of those experiences that didn’t even feel like work—it felt like a fun afternoon with dear friends.

Mallory and I go way back. We went to the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor together in Belton, TX, and throughout college, I saw her live out her faith with such kindness and grace. She was the type of person who refused to gossip or speak unkindly about anyone—always lifting others up instead. From Easter Pageant to Stunt Night, and later teaching together at Central Texas Christian School, I’ve had the privilege of watching her walk through both highs and lows with steady strength. She has always had my utmost respect.

When we grabbed coffee at 1914 Coffee Shop - my favorite- earlier this year, she told me about Zane. I could instantly tell that she was head over heels. She hadn’t been dating him long, but she spoke about him with so much love and adoration. She already knew he was the one. And after meeting him, I can see why. He’s the kind of man who celebrates her, respects her, and serves her with a Christ-like love. Funny enough, I even realized that I had played intramurals with him back in college—I guess Texas isn’t as big as we thought!

For their engagement photography session, we started at Greenfield’s Coffee and Cocktails in Salado. If you’ve never been, it’s stinking adorable! The pink curtains, charming wallpaper, and vintage chairs created the perfect romantic backdrop for couple photography. From there, we headed over to Pace Park, a favorite location for portraits because of the way the trees frame the road so beautifully.

I had some prompts prepared for Mallory and Zane, but honestly, I barely needed them. Half of the session turned into the two of them dancing together—completely natural, completely joyful. The way they moved in sync was such a beautiful reflection of their relationship: full of mutual trust, laughter, and support. These kinds of candid photos are always some of my favorites because they capture love in its most genuine form.

What I love most about working as a Full Service Photographer in Central Texas is getting to provide not just digitals, but tangible memories that couples can enjoy daily. Mallory was especially excited that I offer custom products, including wall art and prints. She’s a big believer in filling her home with physical reminders of the people and moments she loves. That’s exactly what I strive to do with my photography services—capture real, joyful moments and create heirlooms that last.

This was such a fantastic engagement shoot, and I couldn’t be happier for Mallory and Zane as they step into this exciting chapter of marriage together!
